Scientific notation, that is exponential this way of representing a real number, decimal. It is used, for example, scientific calculators, or in some computer programs.

[tex]9680=9,68*10^3[/tex]

There is here a form of writing in the form of a mantissa and exponent.
[tex]Scientific\ notation:a\times10^n\ where\ a\in[1;\ 10)\ and\ n\in\mathbb{Z}[/tex]


[tex]9680=9\underbrace{680}_{\leftarrow 3}=9.680\times10^3=9.68\times10^3[/tex]
