X^2/ 100 + Y^2/ 25 =1
(x squared over 100 plus y squared over 25 equals 1)
The y-intercepts are at:

(-10, 0) and (10, 0)
(0, 10) and (0, 5)
(0, -5) and (0, 5)

Respuesta :

The y-intercepts are at (0, 5) and (0, -5).

Every y-intercept has an x-coordinate of 0.  Substituting 0 in for x we have:

[tex]\frac{0^2}{100}+\frac{y^2}{25}=1 \\ \\0+\frac{y^2}{25}=1 \\ \\\frac{y^2}{25}=1 \\ \\y^2=25 \\\sqrt{y^2}=\sqrt{25} \\y=\pm5[/tex]
