Apart from the plants and algae which are well-known to be able to perform photosynthesis, other organisms capable of doing so are some specific species of bacteria especially those which contain the green pigments called chlorophyll necessary for photosynthesis. These bacteria are also capable of absorbing carbon dioxide.
