We have to solve these equations by substitution, elimination, or by graphing them. I know that the answer is (-10, -1), but I don't have any work to support it. Here are the two equations:
x+2y=-12
5y=3x+25

Can someone give me the step by step instructions on how to get that answer.

Okay so you can always solve these things no matter which way you go. So let's first put them in the right form. (x and y need to be on the same side of the equation)
x+2y=-12
-3x+5y=25
So let's multiple the top equation by three so that the x's will cancel out. That gives you
3x+6y=-36
-3x+5y=25
Now that the x's have canceled you will have
6y=-36
5y=25
Next we will combine the terms
11y=-11
y=-1
Finally, we will plug -1 in wherever we see y into either of the equations. I'll do x+2y=-12
x+2(-1)=-12
x-2=-12
x=-10
Now your coordinates are (-10, -1)
