4 I think. One third of 9 is 3. And 3 plus 2 is 5. So 5 places are used and there are four remaining out of nine.

One third of nine is 3, and 2 out of 9 of the places is 2. So 2+3=5. 9-5= 4, so that means there are 4 spots available
