In photography or graphic design there is an element called 'Value'. Value is defined as lightness or darkness of an object. The value is calibrated on a scale ranging from 1 to 9, from the lightest (1) to the darkest (9).

The value of 1 to 3 on this scale is termed as 'Highlight'. Next three from 4 to 6 are called 'Mid Tones' and the last three (7 to 9) are termed as 'Shadows'. A picture is attached to illustrate this.

Question 2:

The object that has high reflectivity, reflects higher amount of light. Due to this reason the object becomes more brighter and its highlights increase.
