Emilio Aguinaldo was the first president of the Philippines who was a Filipino general during the Spanish occupation of the Philippines. He was a freedom fighter who fought with many Filipinos for sovereignty from the Spanish regime. He declared independence in the Philippines in June 12, 1898 in Kawit, Cavite.
