A - The mother is afraid her daughter will get hurt marching in a protest, but her daughter gets hurt going to church instead. The mother does not want the child to go to the protests because she is afraid she will encounter gunfire. She says the church is safe, however, the church was bombed in 1963 in Birmingham. This is ironic because the one thing the mother feared, violence, ended up occurring in a place she thought would be peaceful.
