He should study how many points the players in each group score. He should then make an average of the scores from each group and see if the average for the player who warmed up is higher than the average for the group that didn't warm up.
Answer with explanation:
The four measure of Variation are
1.Mean : All variate in the data set are considered while calculating mean.
2. Median: Middle value of variate is calculated ,by arranging the data set in ascending order or descending order.
3. Mode: The variate which occur maximum number of times in the set of variate, this is the method adopted to calculate mode.
4.Standard deviation:
[tex]S=\sqrt{\frac{(x-\bar x)^2}{n}},{\text{where}\bar x}[/tex]
is the mean and x is the different variate in the data set.
Lower the standard deviation, means the variate in the data set are close to each other.
Coming to question
There are two groups, one who hasn't warmed up before the game and another one who hasn't warmed up before the game.
Suppose mean of first group , who hasn't warmed up before the game =M
And,Mean of that group , who has warmed up before the game =S
There are two possibilities
1. S>M,
2. S<M
So,Coach can check ,by calculating the mean of two groups, that baseball players who warm up before a game will score more points than those who don't warm up.
→→Now,to Calculate how many points each player makes during the game
Then mean alone can't exactly give the better idea.We have to calculate Standard Deviation.Lower the standard Deviation, the points scored by each player are very close to each other. So,Players who has warmed up before the game, the point scored by the members of that team will be close to each other, and those who hasn't warmed up,the points scored by the members of that team will vary.
So, statistic that Coach should study
1. Mean
2. Standard Deviation
