Mr. Lund runs a sporting goods store. He sells a rod and reel in a case for $162. To determine the selling price, he added $10 for the case to the cost of the rod and reel. Then he doubled the total for his markup. Finally, he added a $12 sales tax. How much did the rod and reel cost Mr. Lund?

Respuesta :

162+10=172

172×2=344

344+12=356

your answer is 356
So a few things
Mark up = cost *2

Start sale price - sales tax
(Cost + markup) = above’s answer
So...
$162 - 12 = 150
Cost = X
X + 2(x+10) = 150
3x + 20 = 150
3x = 130
X = 43.34

Tricky part is that “Mark Up” means espérate from cost so that may throw you off. Thus why it’s (x+ 2(x+10)) instead of something else. Goodluck.
